  • "Youth, agedness and all that comes in between."

Part of Rachelle's Sutherland's 'materfamilias' series, which explores the matriarchs from our past and present, 'Lillian Albertha' has been created by using dot after dot in a method called stippling.

Throughout the 'materfamilias' series, the rose represents what is passed on from one generation to the next. It can be manipulated, it can evolve: history can't be changed, but what we carry into the future can be. This particular piece represents three generations, all at different stages of their lives, all with something valuable to be passed on. The roses age from peak bloom to near decay.

'Lillian Albertha' has been framed in a distressed silver frame with a double mat.
