Each year Quirky Fox challenges a small selection of artists to move away from canvas and paper to create a unique piece of art for their Christmas group show.
This year our artists were challenged to transform houses formed from rewarewa (NZ honeysuckle) to create artworks suitable to sit on a table or mantle rather than hang on the wall.
Bec Robertson has transformed her houses in her recognisable own style. Featuring a tauhou (silvereye) on a pale blue background, negative detailing gives the illusion of native fauna and allows the grain of the rewarewa to be part of the work.
