Daughters of Eve

Daughters of Eve - Quirky Fox’s 12th Anniversary Exhibition

On the eve of our thirteenth exhibition opening I can’t help but think about how far the gallery has come, what we have achieved and what we still have to achieve.

’Daughters of Eve’ ranks highly on the list of achievements; I strongly believe this exhibition is the strongest I’ve put together to date.

Our thirteenth anniversary exhibition was originally going to be a play on the number thirteen, but in October 2025 the world started to monumentally change and not for the better.

Trump was elected president for the second time in the United States with promises to roll back the rights of women and minorities.

Iran dropped its age of marriage to 9 for girls (girls not women and certainly not boys).

Afghanistan made it so women could hardly interact with one another, ruling if even their voice was heard by a male walking by their house they would be found guilty of a crime.

Australia started to debate abortion laws in certain states.

It was hard to ignore the fact that for all women’s rights have progressed, steps were being taken to undermine these. According to the UN Secretary General, at the current rate of progress, it will take another 300 years to achieve gender equality.

At a time when women globally were seeing other women being silenced and judged as second class I put out an open call to artists wanting to take part in an exhibition celebrating women through mythology, literature and history.

To make the women who have had their achievements credited to their male counterparts, who have been forgotten visible again.

I was overwhelmed by the response and quality of artists willing to take part and make their voice and opinion heard.

’Daughters of Eve’ features 26 artists from across the globe presenting their hero’s: from Giulia to the Bride of Frankenstein.

Each work is powerful and meaningful.

Each work shows the power of visibility and having a voice.

’Daughters of Eve’ shows the power of acknowledging our privileges and shining a light on equality. It is designed to educate, empower and create curiosity.
