Miki Nozomi
Miki Nozomi is a figure and portrait artist based in Auckland, New Zealand, working in graphite.
She has formal graphic design training, which has informed her self-directed approach to her practice. Miki takes an experimental approach to a very simple medium, resulting in works that teeter on life-like, in-photoshopped human beings.
She chooses to exhibit modern women as we see them and as it feels to be one: simultaneously awesome and exhausting.
Her work has been recognised with multiple art awards, including the Whitaker Trusts Art Awards (First Prize 2022, and 2024), the Franklin Arts Festival (First Prize 2022), and a shortlist for the Molly Morpeth Canaday Awards.
Miki’s most recent solo exhibition, ‘Satisfaction Brought It Back’, was held in Sugamo, Tokyo in November 2024, following her 2022 exhibition ‘Unframed and Unashamed’ in Matakana, Auckland.
