Jacqueline Butterworth
Born in Sydney in 1987, Jacqui Butterworth is an Australian artist currently based in the UK, producing arresting, classically rendered oil paintings that playfully subvert the relationship between urban and natural worlds.
Balancing the irreverent with the opulent, her canvases are frequently overrun by wildlife - devoid of humans, yet unmistakably marked by their presence. Our artistry, and our refuse.
Jacqui developed a love for drawing and painting early on. While initially pursuing a degree in design, ultimately a year of that was more than enough, and she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of NSW (2011), supplementing her education with a journey to Europe to examine the work of the Old Masters first hand.
Over the past decade Jacqui has exhibited extensively within Australia, while simultaneously working as a large-scale mural painter and sign writer.
Most recently Jacqui took part in a group exhibition at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles (2025). Her first in the USA.
