Artist Statement:

Mythological goddess of the night and all its darkness brings, Nyx’s power was such that she was feared even by Zeus, ruler of all gods.

To me, she represents the collective transformation currently unfolding before our eyes. After centuries of focus on the material, the physical, the tangible, masculine entities of our world, the time has come when we must once again be thrust into the unknown, the unseen, the psychic, magical power that lies beneath. It is from there that we will be reborn.

Nyx brings not only the darkness but that which exists within it. As she casts her veil she moves calmly, with grace, but with a power so great that even the strongest of forces must surrender to her.

Natasha Zraikat

Natasha Zraikat is a magical realist oil painter based in Australia's Gold Coast / Yugambeh Country. Born in California to Jordanian-Palestinian and Russian-Ukrainian parents, Natasha migrated to Australia with her family as a child where she has lived ever since.

Natasha has a deep interest in environmentalism, humanitarianism and storytelling and these themes underpin much of her work. She strives to bring deeper meaning and positive change to the world through her paintings and their stories, while also using her art as a vehicle to explore her emotions around her own identity.

Natasha is fascinated with nature, humanity and how the two interconnect. She uses allegory in her work to represent various parts of her psyche and how she perceives reality, exploring the human experience and our intrinsic connection to our natural surroundings.

Natasha's work has been exhibited and collected across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the USA and the UK.
