Artist Statement:

Persephone was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the goddess of harvest and fertility. She was also called Kore which means Maiden.

She was a beautiful young girl who attracted the attention of many gods. Demeter was obsessively protective of her, keeping all the suitors away from her daughter. Hades, the god of the underworld, was the most determined of them. He fell in love with the young innocent girl, and asked Demeter to marry her daughter, but she refused the offer.

Hades was heart broken and decided to get the girl no matter what. One day when Persephone was playing in a flowery meadow, she was seized by Hades and made his bride in the underworld. She also got betrayed by her father Zeus who gave his consent to the act.

Demeter desperately searched for her daughter with the help of Hecate. Demeter got furious learning about Zeus' betrayal, and refused to let the earth fruit until Persephone returned.

Zeus trying to solve the problem, promised Demeter that Persephone will return if it's proven that she is really against her will in the underworld. Hades learned about this deal and he tricked Persephone by giving her pomegranate fruit to eat. It was the food of the underworld, and eating from it, it made Persephone choose to stay with Hades.

To please Demeter, Zeus made a decision: Persephone spent half the year with her mother / hence, Spring -Summer/, and the other half with her husband / hence, autumn - winter.

I was born in Hungary in 1976, and my life journey has taken me across various countries. In 2016 with my husband and our 2 children we finally put down roots in New Zealand and established a permanent home.

My primary vocation is as a ceramist, and my creative journey led me through various other artistic domains.

For several years, I practiced as a professional makeup artist, stylist, and a graphic designer. I also explored oil painting and further extended my artistic endeavours into the film industry, where I became part of the art department. Later, alongside my role as a full time parent, I briefly immersed myself in sugar art.

When my daughter was diagnosed with severe autism at age 3, I became her full time caregiver.

In 2015 I started to work from home with polymer clay, and It was obvious from the beginning that I found my calling. Sculpting helps me to relax, to find peace, and to express myself. Having a child with severe disabilities is demanding. The act of creation has become more than a pastime, it has evolved into a lifeline, allowing me to rise above the challenges.

In the past few years, my work has been published in various international magazines, I won several awards and I earned a master certificate in my area.

I create realistic one of a kind fantasy and storytelling figurative art, mixing different techniques and mediums, losing myself in intricate details.

I like to explore and experiment with diverse mediums, such as integrating mulberry paper and needle felting into my art, adding unique dimensions to my creative repertoire.
