Felicia Feldman
Born in 1984 in Taegu, South Korea, Felicia Feldman has a Masters in Fine Arts (Painting) from the New York Academy of Art, and a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Maryland Institute College of Art. During her studies she completed a number of independent studies and classes with renowned artists Odd Nerdrum, Steven Assael, Vincent Desiderio and Alan Feltus.
Felicia now instructs art at three different schools while pursuing her own creative endeavours.
Her work explores the themes of femininity and nature, an embodiment of transformation and solitude. She portray females from everyday life, history, and fiction that have to make life altering choices.
Animals featured in her work often represent protectors and emotional support; they also have traditional symbolism stemming from the history of Christian paintings. Felicia’s paintings that represent transition often lack an animal companion as some transitions in life should be braved alone.
Felicia is also interested in the theme of doppelgangers: some of her paintings have two figures as a metaphor of duality. This could be in the traditional sense of duality, or the filters that we create for our public facade.
