Jason Fastier
Based in Wellington, Jason Fastier aims to take the viewer on a journey through a bizarre alternate reality.
Using the natural beauty of the New Zealand landscape, Jason highlights hidden local spots and incorporates native flora and fauna into his work.
A response to the ever-increasing environmental destruction of the modern world, each work gives a glimpse at what the world would look like if nature reclaimed man-made structures and was allowed to flourish.
His work, which is produced from his own reference photographs, often features snails based on the New Zealand giant snail, Powelliphanta. Jason explains that the spiral nature of their shells (linked to the golden ratio) juxtapose perfectly with rigid manmade structures.
