Natasha Zraikat
Natasha Zraikat is a magical realist oil painter based in Australia's Gold Coast / Yugambeh Country. Born in California to Jordanian-Palestinian and Russian-Ukrainian parents, Natasha migrated to Australia with her family as a child where she has lived ever since.
Natasha has a deep interest in environmentalism, humanitarianism and storytelling and these themes underpin much of her work. She strives to bring deeper meaning and positive change to the world through her paintings and their stories, while also using her art as a vehicle to explore her emotions around her own identity.
Building upon previous years in contemporary portraiture, Natasha’s more recent work looks beyond the physical subject - diving into the realms of deeper consciousness and the human relationship with the natural and spiritual worlds. Thoughtful compositions, glowing palettes and painterly brushwork combine, blurring the lines that often define realism and inviting the viewer into a dream-like state where intuitive meaning triumphs over physical reality.
Natasha recently appeared on Portrait Artist of the Year on ABC TV Australia, and won the Dean Cogle Portrait Prize. Her work has been exhibited and collected across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the USA and the UK.
